My not so little girl... and Paris trauma!

My little Savannah will be three at the end of June and lately she has just seemed like such a big girl to me. Most people think she is very quiet, since she tends to go silent when other people are around, but when it is just us at home, she dances around singing and talking non-stop! Just in the last couple of days I have noticed that she is using her pronouns correctly! Instead of saying, "Savannah wants Mommy to come here" she now says "I want you to come here." It amazes me because I never really have corrected her or emphasized this, yet she has figured it all out on her own and changed the way she says things....and so far she has done it perfectly since yesterday! I shouldn't be too surprised because that's how she has always been...for example, I sing the alphabet a lot to her but never really thought it was sticking until one day she just sang the entire thing all by herself. It's like she won't let on that she knows something until she has the whole thing down perfectly....kinda sounds like someone else I know (me)! Anyways, Savannah is such a sweet little girl and although she has typical 2 year old moments, we have been very spoiled because most of the time she is such a calm, self-entertaining, sweet little girl! Here is a pic from last week of the first time I ever curled her hair with a curling iron...she's always had some natural curl so I've never bothered, but it looked so cute-she has the most beautiful hair ever!




Tonight we had a scary experience...the girls were just playing in the playroom while I was getting some stuff done and all of the sudden I heard Paris screaming so I ran down the hall to find that she was in the spare bedroom next to the playroom and she had stuck her head through the metal bars of the daybed that we have in there. I have absolutely no idea how she got her head through the bars because her head was at least an inch bigger than the space she was stuck in and there was absolutely no way that I could pull her out. She was freaking out and twisting all over the place and I was scared to death she was going to hurt her neck or something. I had no idea what to do so I called Bubba (who is in Memphis) and told him what happened and he told me to hold on for a second (I couldn't believe he was putting me on hold!) and after a couple minutes he came back on and said that Jake (Bubba's boss who lives about a mile away) was on his way. I had to leave Paris for 20 seconds so I could run up and unlock the door and by the time I got back, both her and Savannah were hysterical and Paris was thrashing around so much I could hardly keep her still. Jake got there within a couple of minutes and was able to pull the bars and bend them far enough apart that we were able to get her head out. Paris is fine and a few M&Ms later the whole trauma was forgotten...at least by her. Savannah kept saying, "That was scary!" Luckily Bubba is more level-headed than I am, and luckily Jake is a lot stronger than I am or it could have been a lot more traumatic. Savannah keeps telling me that "Jake saved Paris"...so thanks Jake for coming to the rescue!

1. I lived in Ecuador for 4 months back in 2001.
2. I had to go to tongue therapy as a child...yep, you read that right!
3. I loved working on cadavers...when I was in college I took 2 semesters of anatomy that did nothing as far as getting me credits I actually needed, but I had to take them so that I could take Gross Anatomy (a class where all you do is dissect cadavers)

Sick Baby and Go-Karts!

Yesterday morning Paris woke up and seemed to have a little bit of a fever but she was running around and acting normal until after her nap. She just sat on my lap and laid her head on my shoulder for the entire afternoon...which is so NOT Paris...she has never sat still for me to hold her for more than like 3 seconds at a time, even when she was a newborn! And today she woke up with a fever of 102, so I took her into the doctor and he confirmed that she has another ear infection...this is the 4th one since January. However, with the other 3 ear infections, she never had a fever...she was just really grumpy so I'm not sure why this time has been so different. As much as I hate to see her so miserable, I have really enjoyed being able to cuddle with my baby for the last 2 days....she has never really been a cuddler at all and it has been so fun to have her be so cuddly and still. Although I hope that she will be better soon and back to her energetic self, I will miss the cuddles and am grateful for my opportunity to hold my baby the last couple of days. This is not the best pic since I had to take it myself, but I wanted something to look at and remember this special time with Paris.

The other day we went to Leamington, UT to spend some time with friends and let the kids run around. Savannah got to go on her first go-kart ride while we were there and she loved it! It was so funny to watch her because as soon as we put the goggles on her, she acted like she couldn't move her head or make any facial expressions so I couldn't tell if she was having fun or not, but as soon as her ride was over and the goggles were off, she broke into a huge smile and has been talking about it ever since! Thanks to Jake for taking her on a ride, and thanks to Miriam for the invite....it is so nice to have activities to fill the evenings when Bubba is out of town!

And the Summer Has Begun!

Sorry it's been a while but I kept forgetting to charge the batteries in my camera and so I haven't taken any pictures and I always feel like I need to have pics in my blogs to make them interesting, but then I realized that I enjoy reading other blogs that don't have pics, so here's an attempt to be interesting without pictures of my cute kids!
So as most of you know, summer for Platinum (Bubba's job) has begun and that means Bubba is even busier than normal. He was in Florida for about 9 days, came home for a couple days and then left for DC yesterday and doesn't know when he'll be back from that trip. I'm used to him being busy and even out of town quite a bit, and I knew he'd be gone a lot this summer, but it's still not much fun to have him gone so much! However, I do get more projects done and have a lot of "me" time in the evenings after the kids are in bed, and so that's not all bad. It's hard to see the kids missing him though...today he called for a few minutes and I put him on speakerphone so the kids could talk to him....Savannah said "Come home Daddy!" So sad. Anyways, even though it's tough having him gone sometimes, I'm so glad that Bubba has a job that he loves (most of the time!) and that he works with such wonderful people and a company that has been so successful-it has been such a huge blessing in our lives to be a part of Platinum. Here's to another successful, great summer!

This is the first summer in 3 years that I get to stay in Utah and I'm really excited not to have to move....we had a couple of summers where we had to move multiple times, so in the last 3 years we have moved 10 times! In the middle of all that we had 2 kids and although there were some aspects of seeing different cities that were exciting, for the most part I am completely content to finally be "settled" in and not have to deal with packing/unpacking, etc. We don't have much planned yet for the summer but the kids love to play outside and Payson is getting a new pool/splash park which should be fun. We have lots of friends and family here too so I'm sure we can find fun things to do...hopefully Bubba will be around for at least some of them!

Happy Birthday Bubba!

Yep, today is Bubba's birthday and he is 29 this year. Unfortunately we aren't really doing anything too super exciting this year because of work and other stuff we have going on, but I keep telling him that I have to save all the good stuff for next year anyways when he turns the big "30!" Anyway, I just wanted to tell him Happy Birthday and that I love him sooooooo much and am so proud of him. He is such a great husband and father and works so hard for our little family and I am so grateful to have him in my life. Here's a cute pic of him as a kid....awwww!

My Cute Little Paris!

I know it's been a couple weeks since I've posted, and I'm sorry! I know that I get disappointed when I check others blogs repeatedly only to find nothing has changed for a long time, so I am going to try to be more consistent in posting more often, even if nothing exciting has really been going on!

We have been loving the last couple of days of warm weather....my kids LOVE to play outside and they are so much happier when they aren't cooped up inside all day. I took them on a bike ride yesterday (they were in the little trailer attached to the back of my bike) and we had a great ride....until the hill we had to go back up to get home where I thought I was going to die! I ended up walking the last several feet and have vowed that I am going to get in better shape and one day be able to ride all the way up that hill while pulling a hundred pounds worth of toddler and trailer!

Here are a few pics of my cute little Paris....she is getting so grown up and although she is often quite a challenge, she is really sweet, funny and absolutely adorable. She hardly ever sits still, so I don't get to do her hair very often, but lately I've managed to get bows in her hair a couple of times and I think it is so cute! I have finally learned that the only way to be able to get my girls to sit still so I can do their hair is to give them a snack while I'm doing it! So here is Paris at 17 months old!

Easter, Bunnies and ABCs!

We ended up making a last minute trip to Moab this last weekend to check some stuff out for Bubba's work retreat that is coming up this weekend. At first I was disappointed because I thought that our kids were going to be missing out on the Easter egg hunts that we were planning on going to, but we were able to find one down in Moab! There were hundreds of kids there and our kids didn't really know what they were doing so they didn't get that many eggs, but they had fun and got to see the Easter Bunny (he was a little freaky looking), and once Savannah figured out there was candy in the eggs, she was just thrilled!







Right before we left for Moab, Bubba surprised me and the girls with some Easter bunnies of our own...we now have 2 cute little pet bunnies! We have not yet named them....every name I suggest to Savannah gets turned down so we're still trying to get her to come up with something. I'm a little concerned because it turns out one of them is male and one is female...so we may end up having hundreds of bunnies in the future....we really need to get them in separate cages ASAP!!!! The girls love them though so it has been fun to see them with their new pets!





Savannah has recently begun to sing the ABC's all day long. A few months ago she attempted it a couple of times and did pretty well but left out quite a few letters and now I think she only leaves out "L" and "N" so we're pretty proud! I always sing her the alphabet while I'm brushing her teeth (so she knows that my turn lasts until I'm done singing), and last night after I brushed her teeth, she took her toothbrush in her name and began "brushing" all of her doll's teeth...and singing the ABCs while doing so...it was pretty cute. I got her singing on camera today...so enjoy!
